Press Room Steele Sturm obtained a significant victory for an insurance broker that now works at the Lockton Companies, the largest privately owned broker in the United States.  The broker's former employer was Aon, the largest insurance broker in the world.

At issue was the enforceability of two separate non-compete agreements that, when the case was filed, did not appear to meet the strict requirements for enforceability under Texas law. Then, the Texas Supreme Court issued a ruling in Alex Sheshunoff Mgmt. Servs. v. Johnson which loosens the requirements for enforceability.

The parties (Aon was well represented by the Houston office of King & Spaulding) filed dueling summary judgment motions and after oral hearing, the Court held that the non-compete was unenforceable as a matter of law.
